FORCE EVENT — TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT GUIDE

How do you prepare an event technical management brief?

A useful technical management brief is more than a list of trades. It should explain the venue, schedule, interfaces between crews and the responsibilities planned for the operation.

The clearer this information is in advance, the easier it is to coordinate setup, live operation and dismantling.

01

1. DESCRIBE THE VENUE AND ACCESS

Technical access, delivery zones, permitted working hours and circulation constraints directly affect crew organisation.

02

2. PROVIDE AN OPERATIONAL SCHEDULE

Separate setup, rehearsals where applicable, live operation, dismantling and load-out so each trade can understand its working window.

03

3. IDENTIFY TRADES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Road crew, sound, lighting, video, structure, power and other teams should be identified together with their leads and scope.

04

4. FLAG SENSITIVE POINTS

Schedule changes, complex interfaces, venue restrictions and critical sequences should be identified as early as possible.

  • production contacts;
  • key times;
  • planned systems;
  • work sequence;
  • venue constraints;
  • items requiring validation.
