FORCE EVENT — SOUND GUIDE

How do you prepare an event sound brief?

A sound brief should describe how audio will actually be used during the event. A conference, convention, presentation and concert do not require the same organisation.

The aim is not to restate a full equipment inventory when the system is already defined, but to give the sound crew the context needed to prepare the operation.

01

1. DESCRIBE THE PROGRAMME

Speech, video sequences, background music, live music and concert segments should be identified together with the key timings.

02

2. STATE THE SYSTEM ALREADY PLANNED

When production or the technical provider has defined the sound system, that information should be shared with the crew responsible for setup and operation.

03

3. EXPLAIN VENUE CONSTRAINTS

Access, working hours, room layout, control position and specific venue constraints affect setup organisation.

04

4. DEFINE THE PHASES TO COVER

The brief should state whether the crew is needed for setup, live operation, dismantling or the full cycle.

KEY POINT

A strong sound brief describes the programme, audio use, planned system, venue and work phases. That makes it easier to define the technician requirement accurately.
